Upside Down Pizza

Upside Down Pizza

We eat a lot of pizza in our house.  So I decided to switch things up a bit with this Upside Down Pizza.

Everyone has different tastes when it comes to what kinds of toppings they like on their pizza.

While my husband loves pepperoni with green olives, I prefer ham and pineapple.  And kids would be content with plain old cheese.

So I decided to keep it pretty simple, and went with beef and cheese….something I knew the whole family would be happy to eat.

How to Make Upside Down Pizza

Start by gathering all of the ingredients.

Ingredients for Upside Down Pizza

Chop onion first.  I went with half of an onion, but you can use more or less depending on your taste.

Chopped Onions

Put your ground beef into a pan on stove.

Ground Beef in Pan

Add the chopped onions.

Add Onions

Cook on medium high until meat is browned, and then drain any excess grease.

Browned Ground Beef and Onions

Next add tomato sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Add Sauce and Seasonings

Cook on medium low for about 2 minutes.

Cooked Ingredients

Transfer meat mixture to a 13″ x 9″ baking dish, sprayed with cooking spray.

Put in Pan

At this point, feel free to add any additional toppings….such as black olives, green peppers, etc.  Whatever you like!

Then top with your favorite shredded cheese.  I went with cheddar, because that’s what I had on hand!

Add Cheese

Last, unroll the dough and shape to cover the pizza toppings.

This doesn’t have to look perfect!

Top with Pizza Crust

Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until crust is lightly browned.

I would recommend letting it sit for about 5 minutes or so before slicing.  That way all of your fillings aren’t falling out.

Upside Down Pizza

YUM!!  Super easy, and the whole family enjoyed!  Maybe next time I’ll try a ham and pineapple version!
